Blue Mountain Gallery, located in the heart of New York City’s Chelsea art district, invites artists working in two- and three-dimensional media to submit work for its 18th Juried Exhibition. Selected works will be exhibited in the gallery’s Chelsea space from July 28–August 15, 2026. The gallery is pleased to have Randy Williams as the juror for the Summer 2026 Juried Exhibition. Williams is a contemporary artist and Professor of Studio Art and Art Education at Manhattanville University, and a long-time educational consultant and instructor at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
All juried exhibitions are accompanied by a fully illustrated catalog and promoted to collectors, critics, media, artists, and art lovers through the gallery’s website, social media, press releases, and major art listings. Over its 45-year history, Blue Mountain Gallery exhibitions have been reviewed in Art in America, The New York Times, The New Republic, and Hyperallergic and other leading publications.

JUROR – RANDY WILLIAMS (b. 1947, New York City) is a distinguished visual artist and educator whose dual career bridges active studio practice and innovative arts education. He is Professor of Studio Art and Art Education at Manhattanville University and a long-time educational consultant and instructor at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. He also serves as Artistic Director of the New York State Summer School of the Visual Arts, where he has mentored emerging artists for over three decades.

Williams’ artwork, often exploring the intersections of materiality, history, and identity, has been the subject of more than thirty-five solo exhibitions and included in over 100 group exhibitions nationally and internationally. His work is held in numerous private collections.

He holds degrees in Art Education from New York University and Sir George Williams University in Montreal. His honors include a National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship to the American Academy in Rome, fellowships from the New York State Council on the Arts and the New York Foundation for the Arts, and the Manhattanville University Excellence Award (1995, 2007).

ELIGIBILITY
• Open to artists 18 years of age or older, excluding artists currently represented by Blue Mountain Gallery.

• Location: There is no geographic restriction on eligibility. Artists from the United States and internationally are welcome to apply, provided they are able to ship or personally deliver accepted work to Blue Mountain Gallery in New York City

• Students: Currently enrolled students are not eligible to apply.

• Work previously exhibited at Blue Mountain Gallery is not eligible.

• All submitted work must be available for exhibition during the scheduled dates.

MEDIA
• Painting, drawing, printmaking, collage, mixed media, photography, and sculpture in any medium are accepted.
• No giclées or similar reproductions.
• Submission of work in an accepted medium does not guarantee inclusion. Final selections are made at the sole discretion of the juror based on artistic merit and curatorial vision.
• All works are judged equally and anonymously. The decision of the juror is final and not subject to appeal.

FEES Non-refundable fee of $45 for 1 - 3 works. $6 for each additional work up to a total of 10 works. Entry fees are paid through the entry form’s PayPal link, which accepts credit cards. Payment of the entry fee does not guarantee inclusion in the exhibition.

SUBMISSION & ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

 Work will be juried from images submitted only through the gallery’s online submission form or EntryThingy. Images must be JPEG files, minimum 1500 pixels on the longest side, maximum file size 3 MB. Do not use spaces or special characters (! @ $ etc.) in file names.

 

For 2D work

Label JPEGs as: Title_Medium_Size (H x W).jpeg   (example: PinkLemons_Oil_22x15in.jpeg)

Upload ONE image per work for 2D submissions, showing the entire piece (include all panels for diptychs or triptychs).

 

For Sculpture (Wall-Hung or Free-Standing)

Label JPEGs as: Title_Medium_Size (H x W x D)_Weight.jpeg   (example: InteriorForm_Plaster_30x15x12in_20lbs.jpeg)

Upload TWO images per work for 3D submissions, showing the entire piece from different angles.

 

Important: Additional views are intended only for sculptural and three-dimensional work to show multiple angles. 2D artists should upload only one image per work.

 

PRESENTATION, INSTALLATION & SHIPPING REQUIREMENTS

 • Wall-hung work (2D/3D): Max 36" × 36", max 20 lbs, max 10" projection. Multi-part works count as one piece

.• Free-standing sculpture (3D): Max 30" × 30" footprint, 8' height, 40 lbs. Artists must provide a stable pedestal/stand. Suspended work may not be hung from the ceiling, pipes, or lighting fixtures

.• Framing & finishing: Work must be finished, framed/wired, and ready to hang. 2D works under Plexiglas (glass allowed for hand delivery)

.• Safety: Work must be stable and safe. The gallery may refuse unstable, hazardous, or oversized work

.• Shipping & returns: Artists are responsible for shipping, insurance, and proper packing. Include return shipping if applicable

 

APPLICATION DEADLINE & NOTIFICATION All applications must be submitted before midnight on May 24, 2026. Blue Mountain Gallery will make every effort to notify all applicants of the juror's decision by June 17, 2026.

 

ACCEPTANCE Accepted work may be refused if it does not conform to the entry image or exceeds size or weight limits. No substitutions will be allowed. All work must remain in the gallery for the duration of the exhibition.

DELIVERY OF WORK

Hand-delivered work will be accepted at the gallery ONLY on Tuesday, July 21 and Wednesday, July 22, 11:30 am- 5:30 pm. Packaging must be removed from the gallery at the time of delivery.

 

Shipped work: (via commercial carrier only — e.g., UPS or FedEx) must arrive by Wednesday, July 22, 2026 in a sturdy, reusable container.

Return shipping must be prepaid through UPS or FedEx websites or with another shipper who will pick up work at the gallery. USPS is not permitted as they do not pick up.

A computer-generated return label (addressed to yourself, from the gallery) for return of work MUST be enclosed or emailed ahead of time to the gallery.

No substitutions, late-arriving works, or damaged works will be shown.

 

The gallery will do its best to repack work in shipped packaging, but responsibility for providing adequate packaging and instructions rests with the artist.

Please Note: Fragile or unprotected work requiring professional preparation should not be submitted.

 

SALES The gallery will connect interested buyers with the artist and may collect payment on the artist’s behalf. 100% of the proceeds go to the artist; the gallery takes no commission.

 

PROMOTION By submitting your work, you give Blue Mountain Gallery permission to use your images for publicity purposes, including press releases, printed promotional materials, websites and social media. Artists will always be credited and retain full copyright to their work.

 

LIABILITY

• All artwork will be handled by experienced personnel with the utmost care.

• Blue Mountain Gallery is not responsible for loss or damage to artwork while in the gallery or during shipping to or from the gallery

• Insurance is the responsibility of the artist. By submitting work and paying the entry fee, the artist agrees to all terms and conditions stated in this prospectus.

 

RETURN OF WORK All hand-delivered work must be picked up on Saturday, August 15, 5 – 6 PM, or between August 18 –21, 12 – 5 PM (by appointment only)

Special arrangements can be made for alternate pickup times.

Shipped works will be returned the week of August 18th.

The gallery accepts no responsibility for work not retrieved on pick-up date and will charge the artist $5.00 a day thereafter for storage. After 30 days, the gallery may dispose of the work.
