CAROL HEFT   :   PATHOS         March 31- April 24, 2021

The theme of this exhibition is the universal subject of displaced families and individuals seeking refuge and homes in parts of the world that are distant and culturally different from their roots because of war, gang violence, political or religious oppression and poverty, compounded by the global pandemic. Interwoven in this theme is the promise of hope, born of empathy through common experience. The work ranges in size from 96 x 48 inches to 9 x 12 inches and includes painting on canvas and work on paper.

Carol Heft is a New York based artist and teacher who studied with American master Robert Brackman when she was 12 years old, became skilled at printmaking and drawing in High School.  She attended the Rhode Island School of Design before moving to New York in the late 1970s. Her eclectic range of interests includes animated drawings, painting, collage, and both traditional and nontraditional materials and subjects. She currently teaches drawing, painting, two dimensional design, and art history at several colleges in New York and Pennsylvania.
