Nancy Beal: Recent Paintings
Recent Paintings, November 1 – December 1, 2011
Reception: November 3, 6-8pm
The Blue Mountain Gallery is pleased to announce the exhibition of recent paintings by Nancy Beal. The show will open on November 1 and continue to December 1, 2011. Beal’s work includes winter landscapes, still lifes and her exuberant summer garden paintings as well as a series of drawings.
Nancy Beal’s paintings are about her direct experience of her immediate world in upstate New York. Her intimacy with her subject brings out a tenderness of touch that describes these complex landscapes. At the same time, the work is anchored in structure and painterly gesture.
In reviewing the paintings at the 2008 Mohawk-Hudson Exhibition at the Albany Institute, Joel Shapiro wrote about artists’ consciousness of their predecessors: “Nancy Beal with impressionism and certain aspects of Fairfield Porter. Beal’s observations of nature are particular, individual and satisfying.”
